Fresh permanent brows are not healed brows. Nano, powder and combo brows usually begin darker and sharper, then pass through flaking, softening and a temporarily light or uneven stage before the pigment settles.

Day 1: Darker and more defined
Your brows will look crisp, bold and darker than the expected healed finish. Mild redness or tenderness may be present. This is the result of fresh pigment, surface response and the new shape all being visible at once.
Do not judge the final color or density on the first day. Keep the area clean and follow the exact washing and ointment instructions provided.
Days 2–4: Dark and possibly tight
The brows may look even darker as the surface begins to dry. They can feel tight or mildly itchy. This stage is temporary and does not mean the pigment will remain that intense.
Avoid brow makeup, heavy skincare and touching the area with unwashed hands. Do not add extra ointment beyond the thin amount recommended.
Days 5–10: Flaking begins
Small flakes may form and release at different times. Powder areas can look patchy; nano strokes may seem to disappear beneath dry skin. Picking can remove healing tissue before it is ready and interfere with retention.
For the first 10 days, do not apply brow makeup. Avoid soaking the brows, pools, swimming, saunas, steam and excessive sweating.
Days 10–14: Light or uneven phase
After flaking, the brows can look too light, cool, warm or uneven. The fresh surface skin can soften the appearance of pigment below it. This is a normal reason to wait before asking for more color.
Keep strong skincare ingredients, peels, retinoids, acids and laser treatments away from the healing area. Continue sun protection without rubbing the skin.
Weeks 3–6: Color becomes more visible
As the skin settles, the brow color and definition may become easier to see. The healed finish should be softer than the first-day result. Skin type, lifestyle and technique affect how much returns.
Photograph the brows without makeup in the same lighting if you want an accurate comparison. A filtered selfie is not a reliable way to assess healed pigment.
Weeks 4–12: Perfecting appointment
A separate perfecting touch-up may be scheduled 4–12 weeks after the initial procedure. It costs $190. The artist evaluates the healed shape, color and density, then refines only what is appropriate.
The initial nano, powder or combo brow appointment is $380. Maintenance is commonly considered around 12–18 months; after 18 months, the appointment is treated as a new procedure.
Long-term brow care
After the surface is fully healed, daily SPF 50 around the brows helps reduce sun-related fading. Avoid repeatedly applying strong exfoliants directly over the pigment. Follow professional guidance before peels, lasers or other treatments near the brow.
No artist can guarantee one exact retention period. Oily skin, sun, skincare, immune response and color choice can all change how permanent makeup ages.
